Tokio Hotel - Scream (CD)

"The members of Germany's Tokio Hotel started their careers when they were in their early teens, and while they still look youthful on their album covers, they've obviously grown since their 2005 emo/punk-pop debut, Schrei. Comprised of translated versions of songs from Schrei and Zimmer 483, their English language debut Scream opens with the title song and immediately highlights the most obvious change the band has undergone - that of puberty. Fortunately, the lowering of lead singer Bill Kaulitz's vocal range (and subsequent lowering of the album's pitch) has not diminished the songs but enhanced them, bringing depth - no pun intended - and power to his work that was previously lacking. Tokio Hotel may have lost a bit of the innocent tone that endeared them to their early fans, but it has been replaced with a stronger, more assured sound that is just as appealing. That said, there is

The Wombats EP (CDep)
Photo
1 yr 7 mos ago
"The band's first ever US EP release from Kids in America/Bright Antenna, The Wombats EP sees the group at their scuzzy, hi-octane pop best. Telling the tales of love, loss, and desperation, this EP culls "Moving to New York" (which went top 15 in the UK), "Kill The Director" (with a second version remixed by CSS), and "Backfire at the Disco" (the third UK single), as well as rare cuts "Little Miss Pipedream" and "Lost in The Post" (the band's 1st ever UK 7" release on KIDS). The tracks will help you bury your heartache beneath bouncing basslines and euphoric choruses. This Made in England release comes on the heels of the band's two UK Top 15 singles, 'Let's Dance To Joy Division' and the aforementioned 'Moving To New York,' both taken from the Gold-selling debut album, The Wombats Proudly Present: A Guide to Love, Loss and Desperation." - Insound.com

CD: Rocket From The Crypt - "R.I.P" AUTOGRAPHED
Photo

****This copy is autographed by Rocket From the Crypt frontman 'Speedo'***
"Adorned in flamboyantly matching attire, led by the most charismatic and energetic frontman since The King himself, armed with a ferociously ska free horn section and backed up by a legion of devout rocket-tattoo-stamped fans to boot, Rocket From the Crypt quickly became the band that you absolutely did not want playing right before you took the stage. These guys were like the band version of the hot girl that your girlfriend knew about but never wanted you to meet. And then, after fifteen years of unconventionally kinetic stage antics (sometimes involving fire breathing, on-stage raffles, or a guy named "Dirty" who was essentially the band's resident cheerleader), the band gave their bittersweet farewell performance for an army of costume-clad fans - some of which even flew in from other countries - on their favorite day of the year to perform, Halloween. |

CD: Ladytron - Velocifero
Photo
1 yr 7 mos ago
"Velocifero fully transcends the confines of electro-pop with a fresh wave of distorted soul. Mira and Helen - whose disparate vocal styles already provide considerable depth -have evolved both as musicians and songwriters, lending provocative harmonies to songs like "Runaway" and "I'm Not Scared." While, rhythmically, there are moments reminiscent of their old favorites Os Mutantes and the Birthday Party
Velocifero cycles through a wide swath of emotion, from sentient and blissful ("Tomorrow") to forthright and impassioned ("Deep Blue"). "Predict The Day," which starts off with a faint, whistled melody and crescendos into a bounce-rock onslaught of programmed hi-hats, background vocals, and jagged guitar, typifies the album's graceful charge against the status quo. Produced by Ladytron with assistance from Vicarious Bliss (Ed Banger Records) and Alessandro Cortini (Nine Inch Nails)." - Insound.com Release date: June 3rd 2008 Qty: 3 in stock |
